Your Summer at Stanford.

A living memorial to Leland Stanford Jr., Stanford University has redefined higher education since its founding in 1891.

Guided by the words on the University seal, “Die Luft der Freiheit weht” (“the wind of freedom blows”), Stanford makes its students “useful for life” by promoting freedom of mind and the pure search for knowledge.

Experience liberal education and imaginative entrepreneurship.

Stanford Summer professors are leaders in their fields, and your classmates are some of the most brilliant young minds from around the world. We’ll help you synthesize and integrate your skills and knowledge to apply them in new contexts. You can even immerse yourself in the field of your choice with the Intensive Studies program.

Enjoy life outside the classroom.

When you come here for the summer, you become a part of the Stanford tradition. Speaking events, academic roundtables, and trips let you take full advantage of all that Stanford and the Silicon Valley have to offer. And with the fourth quarter’s intimate campus community, you’ll have ample opportunity to develop lasting bonds with faculty, staff and peers.

Letter from the Associate Dean and Director

Learning happens when students come together, engage in conversation and dialogue, and work collaboratively.

Thank you for your interest in Stanford Summer Session! I’m thrilled that you are considering joining us for our fourth academic quarter. You’ll earn a Stanford transcript and experience an unforgettable summer of personal and intellectual growth.

If you choose to live on campus (and I hope you do), you’ll be in residence with peers from Stanford and around the world. Residential education is an important complement to the learning happening inside the classroom. Every week throughout your stay, we’ll organize trips around the Bay Area, book speakers who create impact on an international scale, and invite Stanford professors to share their latest research and discoveries with you.

Our staff is small and personally committed to helping you succeed throughout your stay on campus. Please take some time to explore our website. You’ll find answers to all of your questions, and you can also learn a little more about us.

I look forward to welcoming you to The Farm this summer!
