The Stanford Tradition

Stanford University has been redefining higher education ever since it was founded in 1891 as a living memorial to Leland Stanford Jr.

Guided by the words on the University's official seal, “Die Luft der Freiheit weht” (“the wind of freedom blows”), Stanford aims to make its students “useful for life” by promoting a wide-ranging freedom of mind through direct involvement in the pure search for knowledge, regardless of its particular practical applications.

When you choose to come to Stanford for the Summer, you will experience liberal education combined with imaginative entrepreneurship. Your professors are leaders in their fields, and your classmates are some of the most brilliant young minds from around the world. Our goal is that you will synthesize and integrate your skills and knowledge so that you may apply them in new contexts.

How will you transform yourself this Summer?
