Continuum Mechanics

ME 338
3 units
June 26 - August 19, 2017

This course will offer a discussion of advanced topics in Continuum Mechanics. This course consists of essentially three parts: 1) a discussion of slightly more advanced topics in kinematics, namely, the computation of linearized quantities and rates and several aspects of compatibility, 2) the formulation of thermodynamics for continuum media and, 3) a discussion of constitutive modeling and several standard material models, with particular emphasis in hyperelasticity, viscoelasticity, and plasticity.

Prerequisite

This course is intended for graduate students only. ME333C, or equivalent content, or permission of the instructor.
