Accomplishment, inspirational professors, lifelong learning, lasting friendships, outstanding athletic and cultural activities, and the beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area characterize the Stanford tradition. As a High School Summer College student during summer 2009, you will take undergraduate courses and earn Stanford University credit. You will also participate in many interesting and entertaining activities that enhance the academic experience. Our selective program attracts students who are eager to experience a true university environment. We invite you to join us this summer.

High School Summer College (8 weeks)
June 20 - August 16, 2009

  • Current high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply; applications from accomplished and mature high school sophomores will also be considered. Students must be at least age 16 by the start of the academic quarter.
  • Participants explore the sciences, humanities, arts, and languages.
  • Stanford admission officers meet with program participants to discuss the college application process.
  • Success Series workshops are available to help with college application preparation and transitioning to a university setting.
  • Credits earned in High School Summer College may be eligible for transfer to another college or university.
  • Students have full access to Stanford's premium athletic facilities and libraries.
  • Partial Scholarships are available for the residential program.

Residential Program - Application Deadline is May 10, 2009.
High School Summer College students enroll in the eight-week quarter and take undergraduate courses for Stanford University credit. Participants reside in the historic Lagunita Court residence with a trained staff of Stanford undergraduate students who serve as mentors. Residential students must register for at least eight units of course work.

Commuter Program - Application Deadline is June 7, 2009.
Students who live within a manageable commuting distance to the Palo Alto campus may participate in the High School Summer College as commuter students. Commuter students must register for at least three units of course work. Classes begin on June 23, 2009.
