This course will offer a discussion of basic concepts in Continuum Mechanics. The course consists of essentially two parts: (1) Kinematic description of deformable continuum bodies, and (2) Formulation of mass, momentum, and energy balance equation in Lagrangian and Eulerian form, and in integral and differential form. The class will briefly touch upon the formulation of thermodynamics for continuum media and constitutive modeling, such as hyperelasticity, viscoelasticity, and plasticity.
