The Stanford 2 to 4 Veteran group partnered with Team RWB on July 5th for Trivia night at The Patio, a Palo Alto restaurant and bar. We met 15 minutes before trivia started so the group of veterans could meet the Team RWB correspondent, Robin. Robin had an area of The Patio reserved for the veterans and even ordered appetizers for the table. Once we got settled we split into 3 teams of about 6 and trivia began. The first round was “American Movies,” where we got a sheet with 10 blanks and had to name the 10 movies on a poster that the trivia host had us photograph. While working on figuring out various movie names, we got to know each other better and it was a great icebreaker for the group.
One of the other teams at the bar was named “Happy Birthday Joe.” This was a huge success for Joe’s friends, because, and unfortunately for Joe, veterans love to make everybody part of the party. Every time the trivia host would award points to “Happy Birthday Joe” by saying their name aloud, the majority of our table rejoiced by shouting “Happy Birthday Joe!” We even got other tables at the bar involved in celebrating Joes birthday, which turned out was 3 weeks prior but his friends were a little late on celebrating. At the end of the night, everybody won because The Patio decided to join the fun and brought out a complimentary cupcake platter for Joe’s table and the whole bar sang happy birthday to Joe.
In all trivia night was a huge success. We were all glad Team RWB brought us out for some good ol’ fashioned fun, and we gave Joe a birthday he’ll not soon forget.">
