Description:

Have you ever been curious about the history and purpose of animal models in the field of biomedical research? Do you understand the difference between animal welfare and animal rights? Do you know how gene editing tools have been used to develop our modern animal models? In this course, those questions and more will be answered! The aim over this 8-week course is to provide the student a foundation for which animals are used in research, how they are regulated, and how we use gene editing to create even more useful models. The ultimate intent is to help students develop critical thinking and presentation skills that will serve them in future endeavors. Students looking to pursue careers in biomedical research or a professional medical education will benefit from this course.
