COMMUTER STUDENTS

Live nearby? You can attend Summer Session as a commuter student. Join a community of students and staff that come to Stanford from all over the world, bringing with them a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences to share.

Resources

  • Access the same on-campus facilities—from libraries to health and wellness centers—as a residential student.
  • Attend programming connecting you to a larger Bay Area network of students.
  • Connect with staff dedicated to supporting the needs of commuter students.

Undergraduate commuter students* take a minimum of 3 units.
High School commuter students* take a minimum of 5 units.
*Stanford courses range from 2-5 units. All students must take a minimum of 8 units if they require an I-20 from Stanford.

Residential or Commuter

Regardless of whether you live on campus as a Residential student or live off campus as a Commuter, there will be opportunities at every turn, inviting you to make the most of your summer experience. Trying to decide which option is right for you?

Brace Yourself

Rent can be between $2,500 to $4,000 a month in Palo Alto. We get the desire to hunt for a better deal off-campus, but our housing plan is tough to beat.
