Undergraduate Students

Domestic and International Students

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program.
  • Have graduated from high school or secondary school or equivalent.
  • Have successfully completed at least one term of full-time university or post-secondary courses.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Be able to verify fluency in the English language, using one of the methods described in the English Language Proficiency section on the International Students page.

If you have earned or will have complete the requirements for an undergraduate degree by the start of the Summer Quarter, you will be evaluated as a visiting graduate student. You do not need to be currently pursuing a graduate degree to apply as a visiting graduate student.

Veterans

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Have graduated from high school or secondary school or equivalent.
  • Have not graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Have completed nine units of college level courses prior to applying (Military transcripts, such as a Joint Service Transcript) are not included in this 9 units).
  • NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS: Be able to verify fluency in the English language, using one of the methods described in the English Language Proficiency section.

Additional notes about program eligibility for the Veteran Accelerator program:

  • Because the program is built specifically to support veterans navigate important transitions into higher education, children of military veterans are not eligible.
  • Program participants are expected to dedicate all eight weeks towards Stanford Summer Session and the Veteran Accelerator program. Please carefully consider applying to the program if you foresee potential obligations that will require you to leave campus during the program. 

Graduate Students

Domestic and International Students

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the start of the program.
  • Have graduated or have completed your requirements from your university or post-secondary institution.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Be able to verify fluency in the English language, using one of the methods described in the English Language Proficiency section on the International Students page.

You do not need to be currently enrolled in a graduate program to be eligible.

High School Students

High School Summer College

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be a current sophomore, junior, or senior, or a gap year student at the time of application.
  • Be 16 at the start of the program, June 23, 2018, and no more than 19 by the last day of instruction, August 18, 2018. There are no exceptions to these age restrictions.
  • Not be matriculating into Stanford as freshmen.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Be able to verify fluency in the English language, using one of the methods described in the English Language Proficiency section on the International Students page.

Horizon Scholars

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be a current junior at the time of application.
  • Be 16 at the start of the program, June 23, 2018, and no more than 19 by the last day of instruction, August 18, 2018. There are no exceptions to these age restrictions.
  • A resident of California.
  • Be receiving free or reduced lunch in their county’s public high school system or within the criteria for the California Department of Education’s Income Eligibility Guidelines for Reduced-Price Meals or Free Milk in Child Nutrition Programs for 2017–2018.
  • NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS: Be able to verify fluency in the English language, using one of the methods described in the English Language Proficiency section.
